Creative Readers and Writers Club
Literature, Creative and Analytical skills
This limited space book and story analysis class is hosted by Noor Yusuf, author of a variety of works and children’s books, and editor, teacher and artist. Unlock your child's creative potential and analytical skills with this enriching tuition program for ages 9-12 and 13-16.
The class offers engaging and structured book and story analysis to foster deeper reading skills, literary awareness, and the development of story-crafting, creative writing, and literature skills. The class group size is small to allow for plenty of discussion, feedback, and organic learning.
This will be a 1 hour weekly class held on a weekday starting September 2024. It will be held online to accommodate the international audience of readers and students who have expressed interest. Classes are booked in 4 week term sets to allow for consistent learning and building upon previous lessons. Books will be assigned for reading and creative writing exercises. Each week we will discuss the books in depth, studying the story structure, themes, character arcs, symbolism and other elements of story-craft & authorial methods.
Literary awareness: Discover and explore a range of genres, types of fiction and writing styles.
Deep reading: Learn to understand and analyse literature on a deeper level, improving their ability to grasp complex narratives and themes.
Story elements: Think critically about the stories they read, including evaluating plot developments, character motivations, and thematic elements.
Creativity: Create their own written pieces, focusing on essential writing elements like plot structure, character development, and descriptive language.
Confidence: Build confidence in their ideas and improve their verbal and written communication skills.
Peer perspective: Collaborate with peers, provide and receive feedback, and develop teamwork skills. Story analysis can be very enjoyable in small groups as each reader brings their own perspective.
Classes are £25 / session, and booked in sets of 4, totaling £100 for a booked month. Each month is not standalone - the tuition continues, exploring further elements of story-telling in greater depth and building towards helping your child crafting their own stories in a comprehensive way, hoping to inspire them towards developing their own book in future, and giving them all the tools they need, under the tutelage of an author whose first book was written at the age of 15, and published a year later.
